Get the most from your Trinidad and Tobago dollar

If you’re planning a visit to Trinidad and Tobago, you’ll want to sort out some money for your trip. The official national currency is the Trinidad and Tobago dollar or TTD, which in early 2023 the exchange rate is worth 7.57 TTD for £1.

Where to get your TT dollars

To find out the best exchange rates for your TTD, you can visit your nearest TUI Store, or order them from TUI online. You can also use our multi-currency TUI Travel Money card, which works just like a debit card and is accepted in 36 million global locations. Fees apply if you’re using the card in Trinidad & Tobago.

Using your TT dollars

While credit cards are also accepted in the bigger places, you’ll need cash for shopping, sightseeing and getting around. You’ll probably spend around TTD 1000 on eating out and day trips, but you can get a better idea of your budget by using our handy TUI calculator.

There’s not much in the way of haggling here. Tipping is becoming more common in Trinidad and Tobago, and many high-end restaurants will include a 10% service charge. If they don’t, it’s normal to add 5 to 10%. You should also leave something for maids and other service staff.
