Holiday Spending Guide

Get the best from your Swiss francs on holiday

If you’re going to Switzerland on holiday, you’ll need to sort out some money for your trip. Switzerland’s official national currency is the Swiss franc or CHF. The average exchange rate between the CHF and the pound was 1.06 to £1 in early 2023.

Where to get your Swiss francs

You’ll want to get the best exchange rates, so before your trip you can visit your nearest TUI Store for your Swiss francs. You can also order them from TUI online, or try our handy, multi-currency TUI Travel Money card. It works just like a debit card, and it’s valid in 36 million places around the world. Fees apply in Switzerland.

Using your Swiss francs

Switzerland is at the centre of modern Europe, and you can expect all the usual access to money from banks and ATMs. You can pay with debit and credit cards or Swiss francs, spending about CHF50-75 a day on trips and meals out. Give our clever TUI calculator a try to help you work out the details of your daily budget.

Service charges are included in restaurant bills, but you can round up the numbers if you want to. You should tip porters a franc for each bag they carry for you.
