Why Order Travel Money With TUI?
How to make the most of your Singapore dollar on holiday
Don’t forget to sort your Singapore dollars before you jet off on holiday. Although it’s called the Singapore dollar, this currency is actually used in both Singapore and in Brunei. You might see the Singapore dollar written as S$, or hear it called the ‘Sing dollar’.
Travellers can usually expect around 1.53 Singapore dollars, or SGD, to the pound. This was the average rate in early 2023, although exchange rates vary.
Where to get Singapore dollars
Singapore dollars are easy to pick up from your nearest TUI Store or online. It’s always a good idea to have some cash, but Singapore’s a very modern country, and credit cards are used just as often as they are in the west.
A guide to using Singapore dollars abroad
You should be able to get by on a budget of 100 to 150 Singapore dollars a day. Of course, you may need more or less depending on what you’re doing, and what sort of holiday you’ve got planned. If you do need more cash, you’ll find ATMs at most banks, shopping centres, and MRT stations.
Tipping is not expected in Singapore. In fact, it’s considered to be a bit rude. Taxi drivers and room attendants especially don’t expect tips. In some restaurants, you’ll find that a 10% service fee is automatically added, but attempts to tip more than this might be refused.
