How to make more of your Kuwaiti dinar on holiday

Planning a trip to Kuwait? We can help you sort your currency before you jet off.

The official currency of Kuwait is the Kuwaiti dinar, one of the strongest currencies in the world. In early 2023, the average exchange rate was KD 0.35 to the pound.

Where to get Kuwaiti dinar

One of the easiest ways to get hold of Kuwaiti dinar is to order them from TUI online – you can then have your money delivered to your home address, or collect it from your nearest TUI Store.

It’s usually a good idea to pick up your dinar before your holiday, as leaving it to the last minute or exchanging once you arrive might see you paying a higher rate.

A guide to using Kuwaiti dinar

In Kuwait, credit and debit cards are widely accepted, but it’s still a good idea to carry cash.

Prices in Kuwait can be fairly high, but you can enjoy a comfortable holiday for around £75 per day. To work out how much cash you’ll need, you can use the TUI budget calculator.

Bargaining is to be expected in markets and souqs, and in some shops, so it’s often worth asking for a discount on the quoted price. In most places in Kuwait, tipping is not customary, but upmarket restaurants may add a 10% service charge to the bill.
