Why Order Travel Money With TUI?
How to make the most of your Barbadian dollars abroad
Off to Barbados this year? As well as packing for sea, sand and sunshine, you’ll also need to pack your Barbadian dollars. This currency is used exclusively in Barbados. You’ll be using coins from five cents to one BBD, and notes from two to 100 BBD. You might also see it shown as B$.
The exchange rates are always on the move, but the average in early 2023 was 2.29 BBD to each UK pound.
Where to find your Barbadian dollars
Barbados is a very popular destination, so your nearest TUI Store will have Barbadian dollars available. Or you can log on to TUI online, where you can exchange your travel money at any time of day.
Making the most of your Barbadian dollars
Most shops and restaurants in Barbados are happy to accept US dollars as well as BBD, but you’ll always get more for your money when paying in Barbadian dollars. You’ll also receive any change in BBD, not USD.
Budget-wise, Barbados isn’t the cheapest destination, but it’s well worth the price. Aim to allow roughly B$600 per day, per person. That works out at around £230, adding up the cost of accommodation, food and drink, transportation and entertainment.
