How to make the most of your Bahraini dinar on holiday

If you’re jetting off to Bahrain for your next holiday, it’s good to know how you can really get the most out of your money. The Bahraini dinar’s made up of 1000 fils and used only in Bahrain. You’ll be using coins from five to 100 fils, and notes ranging from half a dinar to 20 dinars.

In early 2023, on average you could get 0.44 Bahraini dinar for every £1 – but don’t forget that exchange rates change regularly, so keep that in mind when purchasing your currency.

Where can you get Bahraini dinar?

Because BD is such a specialised currency, it’s best if you pick yours up before travelling. You can get your travel money from your nearest TUI Store, or visit TUI online to buy all the Bahraini dinar you’ll need for your trip.

A guide to using Bahraini dinar

Bahrain is generally an affordable travel location, with hotels costing on average BD 40 for a typical double room. Aim to budget around BD 17 for meals, BD 35 for travel between cities, BD 10 for local transport and BD 10 for entertainment per person. And don’t forget to save a little extra for buying bottled water each day.

Most hotels and restaurants will add 10 to 15% service charge onto bills. Taxi drivers typically expect a 10% tip. And if you’d like to tip your porter, about 100 fils for each of your bags should do it.
